Elsa Ers BIO
Elsa Ers was born in 1982 in Istanbul. After having graduated from high school, she moved to Paris to complete her studies, where she obtained her BFA from Parsons School of Design in Paris (2005) and an additional BA from the Sorbonne (2007) on French Language and Civilization. After another two-year stint in Istanbul where she tried her hand in textiles following the traditions of her family, she moved to Tel Aviv, where she currently lives and works. Her work, which compromises of traditional techniques of painting, drawing and printmaking, along with experimental surface treatments that were inspired by her years working as a textile designer and craftsman, evolves around such themes of belonging, home, and cultural identity.
